President’s Day is one of those holidays that’s come to be more associated with sales on things like cars and major appliances and less about the birth of our first president. While it’s impossible to truly know what George Washington would think of his birthday being celebrated as a shopping weekend, we do know that there are loads of savings to be found from major retailers like Amazon, Target, and Walmart.
The vast majority of his holiday’s sales always tend to be on on things like furniture, mattresses, appliances, and home goods, but you can find some deals on electronics and fashion as well. We scoped out some of the top retailers to help you easily find savings on things you want to buy.
Target has a coupon for 30% off home goods
To honor our first president, who helped establish our national home, Target is offering discounts up to 30% off on everything in its home categories. You just need to use the code “GEORGE” at checkout to reap these savings. Whether you’re looking for furniture, a new rug, home decor, bedding, lighting, or other home accessories, you’ll find it at Target. In fact, indoor and outdoor furniture and rugs are an additional 15% off.
Wayfair is discounting top brands up to 70% off
If you’re looking for mattresses, vacuums, furniture, bedding, cookware, kitchen accessories, or home decor, Wayfair’s got a ton of sales, including products from top brands. You can find savings up to 70% on the likes of Rachel Ray cookware, Dyson, Calpahlon, Tempur-Pedic, and more.

Many of the participating eBay sellers are actual brands, including big names like Dyson, Cuisinart, Vera Bradley, and Casio.
Home Depot’s discounting top appliance brands
President’s Day is pretty much synonymous with appliance sales, so it’s no surprise Home Depot is taking up to 35% off select appliances for President’s Day. With deals on brands like Electrolux, Samsung, Hoover, Frigidaire, and GE, Home Depot has the best variety, making it easier to find the perfect products for your home. The best part is these savings will be available all month, so you have plenty of time to research your options and make the best purchase.
Best Buy has more appliance savings too
Can’t find what you’re looking for at Home Depot? Try Best Buy. They’re also knocking up to 35% off select appliances, including fridges, ranges, dishwashers, and washers and dryers, including models from top brands like Bosch, Samsung, and Whirlpool. They’ve also got discounts on small appliances and home goods, which is great if you wanted to overhaul your kitchen without shopping at a bunch of different stores.
Walmart is the place to shop for TVs
While most retailers are focusing on home goods, Walmart’s got a bunch of electronics on sale–and yes, that includes TVs. For instance, you can get this 55-inch Samsung 4K smart TV for $597, which is $100 less than Amazon’s selling it for, and $400 less than the original list price. There are also plenty of deals on tablets, tech accessories, headphones, and more. Not to mention they’ve got plenty of discounts in other categories as well.
Amazon’s focusing on fashion and electronics
Amazon’s President’s Day sales are not yet live, but we’re seeing a lot of rumors that they’ll be offering deals on clothing, jewelry, shoes for anywhere from 25-70% off. There are also whispers that we’ll see discounts of up to 70% on a variety of electronics. It remains to be seen if there will actually be anything worth buying, so you’ll have to peruse their deals over the long weekend. In the meantime, they’ve always got plenty of deals to explore.
