Tesla, Safety Agency Duel Over Fatal-Crash Probe

Federal safety investigators and Tesla Inc. broke into an open feud over the probe of a fatal crash involving the auto maker’s semiautonomous driving system, with dueling explanations emerging for the Silicon Valley company’s departure from a formal agreement in the inquiry.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it removed Tesla as an official party to the agency’s investigation of the March 23 crash because the company had violated the agreement by releasing information before government investigators had vetted it.
