Tech in 2018: Will China’s Cowardly Lions Get Some Courage?


Chinese tech companies have long taken their cues from Silicon Valley, hence the Chinese equivalents to Google, YouTube, Twitter and Uber.

This past year brought a reckoning for some Silicon Valley icons. Uber Technologies Inc. had to do some soul-searching about its workplace culture that allegedly permitted sexual harassment. Facebook Inc. and Google parent Alphabet Inc. also acknowledged roles in spreading fabricated news that may have amped up social divisions in the U.S. during last year’s presidential election.
