Pininfarina PF0 to use Rimac electric drivetrain technology

Rimac will supply the battery and electric drivetrain technology used in the upcoming Pininfarina PF0 hypercar.

Described as a “unique technical partnership”, Rimac will “provide battery and drivetrain expertise, and hardware” to Automobili Pininfarina.

After decades of designing and manufacturing vehicles for other manufacturers, the PF0 is the Italian company’s first own-brand vehicle, and is due to enter production in late 2020.

The PF0 will have a carbon-fibre body, and an all-electric powertrain. Although details about the PF0’s drivetrain have yet to be confirmed, the company has previously stated the car will have a 0-100km/h time under two seconds, a top speed in excess of 400km/h, and a range of over 480 kilometres.

A concept version of the PF0 was shown to potential clients and luxury retailers in private sessions last month. The car’s final design and name will be revealed at the 2018 Geneva motor show in March.
