2019 Skoda Kodiaq RS confirmed, teased and spied

The Skoda Kodiaq RS has been teased ahead of its debut at the 2018 Paris motor show, which kicks off at the beginning of October.

In the video released overnight, the Czech brand teases a “record-breaking lap” of the famed Nurburgring Nordschleife with Sabine Schmitz behind the wheel. A full video of the lap, as well as further details, will be released on June 14, European time.

It’s not known at this point in time which engine will power the Kodiaq RS, but a 2.0-litre turbocharged donk of some description is pretty safe bet.

At present, the most powerful engine in the Kodiaq range is a 140kW 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, while a 132kW 2.0-litre sits atop the crossover’s petrol powertrain tree.

Rumour has it the Kodiaq RS will be fitted with the 177kW/500Nm 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged diesel engine used in the top-of-the-range Volkswagen Passat in Europe.

It’s possible, though, the Kodiaq RS may employ the 206kW 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine also seen in the range-topping Skoda Superb, and Volkswagen Passat models.
