In the centre tunnel, there’s the latest version of BMW’s transmission lever, around which are controls for the iDrive system, driving modes, driver assistance features, and electronic parking brake.
As with every succeeding generation, the new 3 Series is expected to grow, which should benefit those riding within. Under the skin, the new 3 Series will ride on BMW’s CLAR platform, which makes use of high-strength steel and other lightweight materials.
Motivation is expected to come from a selection of turbocharged three-, four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, with a plug-in hybrid also on the cards.
We don’t know when the 3 Series will make its debut in production form, but it’s unlikely to arrive in Australian showrooms before next year.
