The Audi A4 facelift has been spied again, this time in ‘A4 L’ sedan guise on the roads of Europe.
While it was spied in its homeland, the A4 L is actually a Chinese-market car – the Chinese characters on the boot lid are a dead giveaway. Despite this particular vehicle being based on a Chinese version, the updated face is the same as the Euro-spec wagon spied last month.
Compared to the model currently on sale, the updated A4 gets a new bumper treatment – hence the camouflage wrap being restricted to that area – featuring redesigned air intakes and a lightly-revised grille.
The headlights are also likely to change, though this prototype doesn’t appear to have new units, and the rear features a new design for the exhaust tips. It’s believed the tail-light graphics should get a minor redesign, too.
According to our sources, there are rumours that the current A4 has had been a slow seller, forcing Audi to fast track the release of the updated version to keep it fresh against the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class – though both of its main rivals are starting to age too.
